IT之家 October 29 news: The $749 (IT之家 note: at current exchange rate approximately 5,004 RMB) Trump Mobile T1 phone has been subjected to blogger JerryRigEverything’s torture test. The device’s resistance to physical damage turned out to be surprisingly good, but once taken apart, the internal structure is not so pretty.
JerryRigEverything ran his signature durability test suite on this gold-colored phone. Starting with the screen, scratches appear at Mohs hardness level 6, and become deeper at level 7, which is basically consistent with mainstream smartphones. The metal frame also withstood the test: he forcefully bent the body in both directions, and the T1 did not break, nor did it show obvious structural damage.
However, passing the bend test does not mean this is an original model.
Previously, iFixit had already exposed that the T1 is essentially just a lightly modified HTC U24 Pro released in 2024. This teardown provided more convincing evidence: with the two phones compared side by side, the internal structures are almost identical.
The screws, motherboard layout, battery placement, and even the model number printed on the sub-board are all the same. Externally, the T1 and this HTC model are also completely identical in dimensions, button positions, headphone jack, and memory card slot. Its most noticeable changes are the gold plastic back cover and the redesigned camera module.
JerryRigEverything also swapped the motherboards of the two phones, and both motherboards could boot normally when placed in the other’s body. It is hard to imagine a more intuitive way to prove how closely related the two devices are.
